How do you lead, innovate, and inspire?
“Lead by example. A leader isn’t always leading by speaking at a seminar, round table or a formal panel. It’s the informal interactions with others that are super important.”
What was the best career advice you received?
“The best career advice I received was from a deputy general counsel at a former company, who in my eyes was a gentle and respected leader. She said, ‘No matter what role you’re in, you should be conscious about your job, position, and evaluate your role every six months. This includes asking yourself whether you are feeling valued, are happy, engaged and whether there are other things that you can do to advocate for changes to your role that would bring you greater job satisfaction.”
What should women consider, when working in this field?
“Be yourself. Don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself. Don’t be afraid to make your presence known. With that being said, do what’s natural for you. You do not have to be the loudest in the group or speak the most during a meeting. There are great leaders here at PAE who are great listeners, are observant and are thoughtful in their responses. Thoughtful speakers are heard. Thoughtful speakers are leaders.”
