The U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps is known for providing troops logistical support, but for PAE Army Client Executive Ken Dowd, it’s also a family affair. That’s something he spoke about on May 7 at the Quartermaster Hall of Fame induction ceremony at Fort Lee, Virginia, where he was both a 2019 inductee and the keynote speaker.

“I was married to my wife in that same building 32 years ago, and she went along with this career in the Army,” Dowd said. “I’m highlighting how important family is in this journey.”

With projects ranging from convoy security and IED detection to aerial surveillance and Ebola containment, more than 150 PAE employees work in 14 countries to support U.S. Department of State Africa Peacekeeping Program programs. In April, a group of PAE senior leaders traveled across Africa to see that work in action. GMS President Chuck Anderson, Vice President of Business Operations Dan Corbett and AFRICAP Program Manager Ashley Meade visited sites in Somalia, Uganda and Sierra Leone.

The life of most congressional staffers is not a glamorous one. Countless hours are spent answering phones, responding to constituent correspondence and watching C-SPAN.  For a lucky few, the job is a series of-life transforming events that provide an opportunity to learn from some of the country’s great leaders and statesmen. I was very fortunate and forever grateful to have been one of those who had a front-row seat to history.

Seth Whitfield has made a career out of braving extreme conditions for the greater good. He served in the Army’s 1st Ranger Battalion from 2001 to 2004. For his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Since 2008, he’s worked for PAE throughout Africa training peacekeepers.

“I love it,” said the deputy program manager for PAE’s Global Peace Operations. “It’s allowed me to continue to serve with a team I respect and admire as we do important work.”

When you talk with someone who truly loves their work, you can’t help but be inspired by their enthusiasm. That’s why we were thrilled to get the chance to catch up with Alexandra McCombs, an attorney and Relativity expert who works as a Senior Project Manager at PAE Labat-Anderson, which provides logistical support to numerous departments of the U.S. government.
