Albert E. Moore, subject matter expert for PAE's Counter Threat Solutions, was recognized as part of a historic group of experts. He received the Outstanding Apprentice Award from C. Ray Davenport, commissioner of the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry.
“Registered apprenticeship in Virginia has a track record of more than 81 years of success,” Davenport said. “The quality of the outstanding apprentices being recognized today give us comfort that registered apprenticeship is alive and prospering in the commonwealth.”
The award commemorates Moore’s self-discipline, hard work and study required to complete the state’s apprentice program. To earn that, he worked as quality assurance lead for a classified government training program providing oversight to a diverse training cadre and instruction systems design staff. This band of professionals develops, modifies, maintains and delivers over 25 courses of instruction annually, said Ralph Brugueras, NSS Safety Manager and liaison between PAE and the VDOLI.
“Registered apprenticeship is an ideal way for employers to develop their current and future workforce by providing real-time, on-the-job training and selecting occupational specific related technical instruction,” Brugueras said. “The registered apprentices themselves, of course, are where the rubber hits the road and where achievement takes seed in this endeavor.”
The program is fully supported by senior leadership, including Counter Threat Solutions Vice President Will Todd, Brugueras said. Moore is one of 17 PAE employees to earn master instructor certification through VDOLI.
